Pocketed Butterfly Scarf

Hello everyone,

In the past week I crocheted my first pocketed scarf. I made it to offer as a birthday gift to an octogenarian lady!

As you can see, the scarf has two pockets each side to warm your hands or just put some tissues. The scarf took about 6 hours and it's very simple to do.

 Pocketed Butterfly Scarf

Yarn:
  •  Lido (Tricots Brancal) color nr. 1:
    • 150 g/ 300 m / 109.4 yds
    • wool 32%; acrylic 58%; metallic 10%.

Other materials:
  • Crochet hook 5.5mm
  • Scissor
  • Yarn needle

Pattern:

Chain (ch) 27.
Round 1: 1 double crochet (dc) in fourth ch from hook and each of the next 22 ch (24 dc in total). Ch 3 and turn;
Round 2: 2 dc, [ch 3, 1 dc in fourth ch from hook, 2 dc] repeat 4 times, 1 dc, ch 3 and turn;
Round 3 and 4: 23 dc, ch 3 and turn;
Round 5: same as round 2;
Round 6 and 7: same as round 3 and 4;
Round 8: same as round 2;
Round 9 and 10: same as round 3 and 4;
Round 11 to 20: 23 dc, ch 3 and turn;

Butterfly stitch

Round 21: 2 dc, [ch 6, skip 4 ch from hook, 3 dc] repeat 3 times, ch 3 and turn;
Round 22: same as round 21;
Round 23: 2 dc, [ch 3, 1 single crochet (sc) that crochets row 21, 22 and 23 together, ch 3, skip 4 ch and 3 dc in each next 3 ch] repeat 3 times;

Continue working row 21, 22 and 23 until you reach the desired length.
Careful that if you want the pockets facing in the same direction, you have to do a pair number of butterfly stitches.

For the final pocket, first crochet the back side (same as round 11 to 20) and then the front side (same as round 10 to 1).

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing
Sew the border of front side to the back side of each pocket with the same yarn.

Great stitches ;)
